    The figural and decorative black painting was done when the slip was still wet, giving a distinct, slightly blurry effect that is characteristic of ceramic ware produced at this time in the Bajaur Valley, at the Afghanistan border. Bajaur terracottas of this type are usually embellished with animals or with rows of women making offerings.
