    Inscription: At lower right, spuriously monogrammed "AG" (for Aldegraver) in pen and brown ink. On the verso of the mount: at upper right, numbered "9" in graphite (modern handwriting); at centre, numbered "126" in graphite (19th- or 20th-century handwriting); at lower left, numbered "28" in pen and brown ink (18th- or 19th-century handwriting); at lower left, inscribed "Charlemagne recevant la Justice" in graphite (19th- or 20th-century handwriting); below, inscribed "Jorg Breu vers 1575/Ecl d Augsbourg" in graphite (20th-century handwriting).
