    Inscription: In pen and brown ink at upper left in the artist's hand: "Ruines du chateau de Becoiseau près de Mortcerf en Brie dessinés par J.G. Wille 1784".

    Marking: Stamped blind on mount, unidentified collector's mark: "ARD" (Lugt 172). According to Lugt, the stamp belonged to a mounter of drawings who lived in France during the eighteenth century.
