This was one of the heaviest guns in the great fortification at Fortress Monroe. It was called "The Lincoln Gun."

Notes from Brook Johnson Feb. 26, 1991: "Probably by Gibson or Pywell (most likely) who worked for Gardner. Gardner never went to Monroe."
