Burmester, Cape Town (11), Thomas Hayward, St. Helena (10). 92 of the cartes-de-visite are hand colored. Curatorial comments inscribed front fly-leaf in pencil state "The Japanese, Chinese, and Javanese subjects may be attributed// to John Thomson on the basis of comparison with approximately// 120 C-D-V in the possession of Janet Lehr (N.Y.C.). Over half of// those are imprinted with the name of Thomson. Not one exact// duplication was found but the style of posing, choice of subjects// and coloring was so similar authorship was hard// to doubt.// WN Oct 1976."
