  • Description

Nanda, Krishna's foster father, affectionately embraces Vasudeva, Krishna's father and brother-in-law of the evil King Kamsa who threatened to kill the infant Krishna. Farmer’s wagons and a lotus-filled tank occupy the lower registers. The strong but limited palette with robust patterning and confident silhouetting of the figures are features of this early sixteenth-century Rajput style.
