(on lower part of rim) INNIXVMQVE DEVM SCALIS, PROMISSA SVPERNE FIRMANTEM, ATQVE AMPLAS POSTERITATIS OPES. "Here, his shoulders laid on the rock, the exhausted Jacob sees angels frequently climb the ladder and [he sees] God, leaning down the ladder, confirming promises from above and [promising] great numbers of descendants."
