On the shoulder, deer attacked by sphinxes and griffins, water birds
On the body, bull attacked by lion

This fine fragment represents an early phase in the development of Fikellura pottery. In the animal groups as well as the drawing, there is a vitality that later subsides. The name Fikellura derives from a site on the island of Rhodes to which this fabric has been attributed. It is now established that the center of production was Miletus.
