Begin in Madrid with the Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. See Salamanca, city of golden sandstone, before boarding AmaVida in Vega de Terrón. Visit the fortified Portuguese village of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and enjoy a wine tasting at a local quinta (wine-producing estate). Other highlights include the hilltop pilgrimage church of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios in Lamego and an after-hours tour of the Douro Museum in Régua, dedicated to the history of this ancient wine region. Conclude in Porto, with its eclectic architecture from the Romanesque to the twenty-first century. Optional Lisbon postlude.
