Moroccan Court Music Series: Aliya Cycon and Ghassan Sawalhi

Moroccan Court Music Series performers

To inaugurate the 2016 season of the Moroccan Court Music Series, oudists Aliya Cycon and Ghassan Sawalhi will collaborate for an evening of Arabic-inspired music. Cycon (b. Amherst, MA) and Sawalhi (b. Ramallah, Palestine) merge their life experiences with a mutual love for Arabic music, forming a bridge between their two distant worlds. By combining their talents for composing and arranging, this intimate and dynamic duet blends traditional and modern, East and West, with their colorful original music.

Made possible by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
