Family Program at The Cloisters

Talons! A Bird of Prey Experience

How high can an eagle fly? How does an owl know where to go to find its dinner? How do you train a hawk to come back to you? Join Master Falconer Lorrie Schumacher as she discusses these questions as well as the ancient sport of falconry. She will present a demonstration of live trained hunting birds, including owls, a raven, and a Harris Hawk. If conditions are right, visitors will be able to see these magnificent birds fly in the skies above The Cloisters.
