Salzburg Marionette Theatre: The Toy Box

"Debussy may have intended 'The Toy Box' for children, but the score is sophisticated.... The puppetry was wonderful, from Pulcinella's spidery extending arms to the delicacy of the doll's on-point ballet dance...."—The New York Times

A masterpiece of magic and whimsy, Debussy's La Boîte à Joujoux ("The Toy Box") is beautifully reimagined by the Salzburg Marionette Theatre. The brilliant American pianist Orion Weiss will perform Debussy's score live on stage alongside the four puppeteers. For this evening performance only, Weiss will begin the program with Schumann's PapillonsBlumenstück (“Flower Piece”) in D flat, Op. 19; and Novellette, Op. 21, No. 8 in F sharp minor.
