Gallery Concert—Mbira: Music of the Spirits of Zimbabwe

Fradreck Mujuru (right) and Erica Azim

This month's gallery concert features Zimbabwean master musician Fradreck Mujuru and Erica Azim playing the healing music of the mbira, an instrument used by the Shona to connect the living with their ancestors for over one thousand years. This performance will take place in the Samuel H. and Linda M. Lindenbaum Gallery, the Museum's main gallery for African art. A brief tour of The André Mertens Galleries for Musical Instruments immediately follows the concert.
