Studio Workshop

Painting in Series

Explore multiple ways to paint the same subject in this Matisse-inspired studio course. Contemporary artist Jaqueline Cedar leads conversations and painting exercises centered on the work of Matisse, his contemporaries, and other significant artists who used painting to repeatedly revisit an idea. Visit the exhibition Matisse: In Search of True Painting and learn to use drawing as a planning tool, develop skills in building a composition, and practice working from observation in acrylic paint. Create a series of three paintings and drawings over the course of this three-session workshop (February 10, 17, and 24).

This workshop meets in the Met's galleries and studios. All levels welcome. Space is limited. Purchase tickets below or at the Great Hall box office. Registration ends at noon on the Tuesday before the first day of the course. For more information, call 212-570-3961. Please call 212-570-3949 or visit the box office to receive student pricing.

Education programs for this exhibition are made possible by The Georges Lurcy Charitable and Educational Trust.
