Digital Studio: iPad as Sketchbook in the Museum

iPad

Paint with an unlimited palette and sketch with myriad textures in front of your favorite work of art using a digital tablet. Use powerful apps to test out traditional and experimental sketching techniques and work directly in the galleries. Learn how to create unique brush effects, use layers, and develop your own work process for digital sketching.

This workshop meets in the Met's galleries and studios. Participants must be 18 or older. Space is limited. Purchase tickets below or at the Great Hall box office. Registration ends at noon on the Tuesday before the first day of the course.

Instructor: Michelle Hagewood

Michelle Hagewood is an artist and full-time educator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has exhibited her paintings and installations nationally and holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. At the Met, Hagewood oversees Studio Programs where she collaborates with contemporary artists and educators to connect today's practices to those of the past.

Fee: $45 for the one-session workshop (includes Museum admission and materials). Limited student discounts available.
