Friends of the Department of Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas support the department's exhibition program in The Michael C. Rockefeller Wing while enjoying invitations to notable exhibition viewings and opening receptions. Other events, which include four or five more activities a year between September and May, are curatorial seminars, guest lectures, and behind-the-scenes views of a range of the department's activities. Introductions to private collections and collectors and visits to loan exhibitions in other museums and cities are also part of the program. Members are collectors and aficionados of any or all of the three specialist fields that make up the department.
