El Greco at 400: Venice, Rome & Madrid

Toledo, Spain

May 31–June 11, 2014

Follow in the footsteps of the Greek-born master. Begin in Venice, where El Greco apprenticed, to dine at a private palazzo and visit St. Mark's Basilica. Visit the churches of Santa Maria della Salute, San Giorgio Maggiore, and Santa Maria dei Miracole. In Rome, focus on the works that influenced El Greco, including the Sistine Chapel and Raphael's frescoes, followed by a privileged walk in the Vatican's gardens. Fly to Madrid to view a private collection and spend a day in Toledo, home to El Greco's most important works.
