The Waverly Consort—The Christmas Story

Waverley Consort

Each holiday season, the Waverly Consort's thirteen-member ensemble, under the direction of Michael Jaffee, performs The Christmas Story on tour. This beloved program includes vocal and instrumental hymns, processionals, antiphons, and Mass compositions from the tenth to the fifteenth century. These compositions, arranged as a narrative, evoke the liturgical calendar for Advent and Christmastide. Rooted in music manuscripts and illuminated miniatures of the Middle Ages, the program premiered at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1980.
