Lionheart—Tydings Trew: Feasts of Christmas in Medieval England

Lionheart

Known for their "beautifully unified…and impeccably balanced" vocal style (New York Times), this six-man a cappella ensemble provides an offering of English music that celebrates the feast days surrounding Christmas from the Nativity to the Epiphany. The program will focus primarily on the carol, an art form originally associated with secular dance, which later developed into elaborate polyphonic forms, many of them devotional in nature. Also included are chants from the Sarum Use and motets from the Old Hall Manuscript.
