Imre Révész American, born Hungary
Irma Biró Hungarian

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 852

"Advertising is the new Great Power," Hungarian duo Révész–Biró proclaimed in this volume of their commercial work, adding that it "creates great people, dictates the fashions, brings renown and success, boom or depression, and, last but not least, sells the goods." With these high stakes in mind, they crafted an arresting, graphic montage for disinfectant powder. The grasping hand, a popular motif in propaganda campaigns, here gestures toward commerce, connoting a cleaner world within reach.
