A series of humorous Christmas scenes based on an account by the artist's grandfather. Here, Mr. Carylon fights off and captures the highwaymen then takes them to a justice of the peace. Finally arriving at Marley Hall, Mr. Carylon is welcomed by the squire but irritates another visitor, Squire Mallow. That night, Mr. Carylon thinks he hears a ghost but instead discovers an old gentleman looking at family portraits.
