Umpire, baseball game figure from "Mayo's Cut Plug" series (N301), issued in 1896 by P.H. Mayo and Brother. 28 cards in set -- two teams of 13 players representing teams called Boston and New York plus two umpires. Unnamed players in different baseball positions. Meant to be inserted into slots on game board which is obtained separately. Ad and game information in tiny print on back: "Use Mayo's Cut Plug for smoking and chewing and get a Baseball Game consisting of a Base, Grandstand, Teetotum, and Twenty-Eight Players. One Player packed in every 2 Oz. package of Mayo's Plug and Cut Plug. Ask your dealer for a Base, Grand-Stand, and Teetotum, as they are furnished FREE. If he has none, write to P.H. Mayo & Brother, Inc, Richmond, Virginia."
