The portal columns, standing soldiers and portraits of Maximilian's ancestors and relatives are by Hans Springinklee or Wolf Traut; and the column base decorated with harpies is by Albrecht Dürer.



The title of the portal was originally intended to be Die Porten der Obristen Freundschafft but was already changed in the first edtion.
