Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents a Portuguese merchant, the wife of a Valencian merchant in Spain, a Spanish merchant, and an Italian merchant. On the left, the Portuguese merchant wears a long hooded cloak, a ruff, a sort of beret, and flat shoes with rounded toes. Next to him is a woman, wife of a Valencian merchant, wearing a cloak, closed over her overcoat, which has double-striped borders and ruff collar, a veil around her face, a hat, and chopines. On the center-right, the Spanish merchant wearing a short cape with triple-stripe borders over a long overcoat with a pattern of lozenges on the border an high, fur-trimmed collar with ruff, and a beret. On the right, the Italian merchant wears a hooded cloak with a border of four parallel stripes, striped padded hose, a hat and ruff.
