Hand-colored engraving with design for two Russian military costumes, part of the book "Incroyables et Merveilleuses," with 33 costume plates designed by Horace Vernet and engraved by Georges Jacques Gatine, published ca. 1815 in Paris. The costumes consist of dark green military jackets with red cuffs and borders and small, white buttons, gray trousers with red, vertical stripes on the outer sides, white belts with long, large tassels, golden swords and black boots. One of the jackets is presented shorter at the front and with two long, pointed tails, with red collar and golden epaulettes, and matched with a black bicorne hat with a bundle of thin, white and red feathers. The other jacket has straight hemline, white collar and epaulettes, and is worn with a white cap with red band.
