This Scottish view comes from a series of lithographs Bonington made in 1826, based on drawings by Pernot and titled "Picturesque Views in Scotland." Rob Roy (Robert Roy Macgregor) was a folk hero who foughtin the Jacobite rising of 1715 and later gained fame as a cattle rustler.
