Not on view

Nicolas Ghesquière began his career with an internship at Agnès B. at age fourteen. He held subsequent positions at Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, and Callaghan before moving to Balenciaga at the age of twenty-two. He was appointed creative director of the house in 1997, a position he held until 2012. At Balenciaga, Ghesquière applied his own modern aesthetic and technical ingenuity to the vocabulary of the house, combining traditional techniques and innovative technologies in his experimentations with fabrics, patterns, and silhouettes. These boots combine the attenuated shape of a stiletto with the density of a platform.
