Canopic Jar Inscribed for Neferi

New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 117

The inscriptions on each of Neferi's four canopic jars invoke one of the Four Sons of Horus, the funerary deities who protected four the internal organs that were removed during mummification. This jar invokes Imseti who protected the liver.
