Bell

Ptolemaic Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 134

Bells appear in Egypt in the 8th century BC. This one of faience is unlikely to have actually functioned, but was probably intended as an offering or amulet. See 23.6.33 or 23.6.34.
