This is one of the earliest existing instruments that bears Jonas Chickering's name.

Technical description: Serial number 281; table front mahogany case with rosewood striping; on 4 carved turned and reeded legs, FF-c4 ivory and ebony keyboard with lightly molded maple natural fronts; soundboard extends full width of case, damper and mute pedals in carved lyre, brass stringing and engraved brass nameplaque set in rosewood curved-end nameboard decorated with ormolu neoclassical mounts; folding music rack; with upholstered octagonal revolving stool on tripod rosewood base.
