A woman in Maori costume with a baby, sitting amidst ferns and looking over misty water was made by William Heath Robinson to illustrate Rudyard Kipling's "A Song of the English," 1909 (see MMA: 66.540.30, Section VI: The Song of the Cities, no. XXIX). The image relates to this poetic line: "Last, loneliest, lovliest, exquisite, apart."
