Half-length portrait of the king facing to the left within an oval. He has long hair, a moustache and beard, and wears a wide-brimmed hat, a lace collar and a cloak emblazoned on the left shoulder with the star of the Order of Garter. Behind him is a landscape showing the Lambeth marshes, the Thames and, on the far bank, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Buildings, Whitehall and the new Banqueting House.
