This print was based on a painting from 1877 (Opus CLXXXI) commissioned by Pilgeram & L. H. Lefèvre, London and exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery, London in 1878 (no. 27) with "Sculpture in Ancient Rome" (no. 28). The print was first published in "The Art Journal" in London in August 1878, and this impression is from a later American edition.
