Hat

Department Store Henri Bendel

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 899

The silk roses and leaves that make up the structure of this hat are exquisitely made. Flowers have long been a mainstay of hat decoration, culminating in the late 1950s and early 1960s when the entire surface was often covered in artificial flowers.
