This artwork is currently on display in Gallery 020
This Virgin and Child was originally joined by a seated Saint Anne, the Virgin's mother, to form the Annaselbdritt, a group representing three generations of the Holy Family. The group probably came from a predella that thematically expanded the subject of the main altar above. In this case, the altar may have been dedicated to the Virgin. The sculpture may be associated with the early period of the Master of Rabenden, an important Bavarian carver.
