  • Description

By the time he made this painting, Picasso had moved permanently to the south of France. He associated the south with Mediterranean culture, hence the playful faun of antiquity appears frequently in his art of the 1940s and 1950s. This painting is closely related to works Picasso composed before the camera in Henri-Georges Clouzot's documentary "Le mystère Picasso", made in the summer of 1955.
