Stella Rubinstein-Bloch. "Paintings—Early Schools." Catalogue of the Collection of George and Florence Blumenthal. 1, Paris, 1926, unpaginated, pl. LII, no. 2, compares it with the portraits of Marguerite de Bourbon, duchesse de Nevers, in Versailles (no. 3185) and with Mme des Cars de Pompadour [sic; Suzanne d'Escars, dame de Pompadour], also in Versailles (no. 3171).

Anne Dubois de Groër. Corneille de La Haye dit Corneille de Lyon. Paris, 1996, pp. 9, 129, 131, 264, no. 27, ill., finds this portrait superior to a replica in the Cleveland Museum of Art (no. 27A) and publishes in the addenda a third replica in a private collection (no. ADD-7); attributes the face of the young woman in the latter to Corneille and the costume and jewelry to his workshop; rejects the Cleveland Museum's suggestion that the sitter may represent a Valois princess.
