The team of artists that worked with Karl Richard Lepsius in Egypt and Nubia between 1842 and 1845 is recognized as producing the first truly scientific recordings of Egyptian monuments. Most of the drawings made by the expedition were reproduced in Lepsius's monumental work, which was published over a ten-year period. The accuracy of the renditions makes this work a valuable research tool.
