This small yet thorough guide discusses sculpture and painting found in the public and private collections of Brescia. Although the work was published anonymously, the text is by the Brescian sculptor and engraver Giovanni Battista Carboni. An early example of the modern tourist guide, it is recognized today as a valuable document for the study of Brescian art that has proven reliable in detail and comprehensive in scope. The charming etchings that decorate the book are likewise the work of Carboni.
