Pitcher

J. Eberly and Company American

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 706

The Eberlys glazed much of their “fancy” ware with the mottled brown-and-green glaze characteristic of late-nineteenth century Shenandoah Valley pottery. The scrolled ornament over the soap dish and the trompe-l’oeil screws that appear to secure the handles further enliven this utilitarian set.
