Preliminary drawing of a head and foot

Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom

Not on view

Blocks of fine limestone such as this were used to line the walls of the tomb chapel and provide a surface for the decoration. Visible here is the preliminary drawing of a head in profile and the front of a foot from the register above, meant as the basis for relief carvings that were never completed.
