Head of a Goddess(?)

New Kingdom, post-Amarna Period

Not on view

This head certainly represents a goddess as she wears the traditional simple tripartite wig. Some crown or element sat on her head, and an estension of stone to the right of the head points to the fact she was part of a group, perhaps alongside a male god or, alternatively on one side of a king with a male god on the other.

The eyes are strikingly narrow. A date to the reign of the post-Amarna kings Aya or Haremhab seems most likely.
