Seated woman with Two Female Servants

Twentieth Century; original New Kingdom

Charles K. Wilkinson

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 135

This facsimile painting copies a detail from a banquet scene in the tomb of Djeserkaraseneb (TT 38) at Thebes. Here, a woman, seated on a low chair, is shown preparing for the festivities with the aid of two servants. A similar chair (36.3.152) was discovered in front of the tomb of a woman named Hatnefer.
