Ibex Head from the Shoulder of a Vessel

New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 117

This ibex head was probably attached to the shoulder of a vase similar to one found during the Museum's excavations at Malqata (11.215.460). The body of the animal would have been painted on the vase.
