Not on view

In the 19th century, interest in ancient Egypt swept Europe following Napoleon's campaigns (1798-1801). This highly stylized clapper bell features the face of the Egyptian deity Bes, along with attributes not normally associated with him including rams horns and the 'Wand of Horus' (fist grasping a small rod).
