Flageolet in C?

German

Not on view

Flageolets are structured like recorders but built in small if not very small sizes and narrow bores. 17th-century pieces with a very narrow cylindrical bore, four front and two thumb holes, were often used help teaching birds to sing--canaries, nightingales, larches, etc.--but also to catch them. Opera composers called for them in garden and grove scenes.
