Gustave Serrurier-Bovy Belgian
Not on view
The Belgian architect, designer, and retailer Gustave Serrurier-Bovy was an important proponent of the Art Nouveau style, which spread across Europe beginning about 1890, with roots in England and offshoots in Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy. Serrurier-Bovy’s interpretation of the linear, sinuous, and vegetal Art Nouveau is a less sculptural and somewhat plainer version, which subtly shows off the handcraftsmanship of the furniture.
