Marcks, one of the first masters appointed to be artistic director of the ceramics workshop at the Bauhaus (1919–25), and Wagenfeld, a student at the Bauhaus (1923–25), collaborated on this coffeepot, which promotes the Bauhaus philosophy of rational design for industry using the principles of functional efficiency and geometrical form.
