Doorway

French

On view at The Met Cloisters in Gallery 07

The contrast between the graceful and simple pointed arch of this doorway and the more complicated arches of later doorways (such as the portal leading to the Nine Heroes room) illustrates the development of ornamental style from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century.
