Afrasiyab's former allies reject him, so he is forced to travel to Gangdizh, a city built by Siyavush on the Sea of Chin, across the desert of Mukran. Kai Khusrau sends envoys to the local king to ask for provisions and safe passage, but the shah of Mukran instead prepares for war. The two sides are at an impasse until Giv rides forth and spears the shah of Mukran with his lance, hastening the end of the war.
